The first Aquaman movie, starring Jason Momoa as the aquatic man himself, made over $1 billion and stands as the highest-grossing DC superhero movie ever. Despite that, and probably because of its close association with Zack Snyder’s… divisive Justice League movie, Aquaman failed to launch its own mini-franchise and is only now getting a sequel five years later—a sequel that nobody seems to really care about (maybe because of behind-the-scenes drama and controversies).

Speaking with ET Online, a cold and rained-on Momoa said that the future is “not looking too good” in terms of him playing Aquaman again after the release of Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom
That choice is now in the hands of new DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, who Momoa concedes are trying to “start their own thing up” and may have their own plans that don’t involve him or Aquaman. But still, he’d love to be a part of what they’re doing, saying that Warner Bros. and DC are his “home.” Curiously, back in 2022, Momoa hyped up the arrival of the Gunn/Safran administration by saying that they were going to be making one of his dreams come true. We still don’t know what the heck that was about (Momoa’s FlashThe Lost Kingdom, and this is the last we see of Momoa in a DC movie, maybe we’ll never know.
