In A Violent Nature sequel to pick up lurching killer’s trail

Fans of lo-fi horror movies to study or relax to are in for a treat. The green therapy slasher, In A Violent Nature, is enough of a cult hit to warrant a sequel. Per Deadline, IFC Films and Shudder confirmed the upcoming continuation of that long walk in the woods and even brought their iconic killer, Johnny (Ry Barret), the hook-wielding maniac from Violent Nature, to Comic-Con to turn fans inside out.In A Violent Nature is a revisionary horror film that reframes the Friday The 13th narrative from the killer’s perspective. To wit, long stretches of In A Violent Nature see Johnny walking through the woods, slowly approaching an unsuspecting victim and then inflicting some pretty gnarly violence upon them. While this seemingly would make a perfect double feature with Sasquatch Sunset, what Johnny does with a woodcutter is probably a little too intense for those lactating Big Foots—though they have a violent nature, too. There is no plot or release date for the sequel. However, it’s not like Jason Voorhees ever found resurrection particularly difficult. All the series needs is a group of horny camp counselors to swipe a cursed locket. We were fans of In A Violent Nature’s simple but effective genre remix. In her A.V. Club review, critic Anna McKibbin writes, “With In A Violent Nature, [director Chris Nash] crafts something entirely new; composed, near and real. But the film’s sense of tone and timing proves that he also intimately understands why audiences were always invested in these marathons of blood, gore, and guts.” We don’t expect Johnny to get here soon, but we’re sure it will be horrible when he does. Now that you're hooked... come back for more. @IFCfilms and @Shudder present IN A VIOLENT NATURE 2.
