Elisabeth Moss returns for one last round of resistance in The Handmaid's Tale teaser
Hulu's dystopian drama will return in April.

The Handmaid’s Tale has aged terribly or brilliantly, depending on how you view it. Maybe its eerily prescient for the final season to be airing at the start of the second Trump administration (the show premiered at the start of the first), or maybe it’s just exhausting. Maybe it’s inspiring that June (Elisabeth Moss) still has the stamina to resist in Gilead, or maybe it’s frustrating to watch her return to that den of dystopia and misogyny again and again. In any case, a new Handmaid’s Tale final season teaser finally heralds the conclusion of this long (and wearisome?) journey ahead of the premiere on April 8.
“In the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale, June’s unyielding spirit and determination pull her back into the fight to take down Gilead,” reads the Hulu synopsis for the series. “Luke (O.T. Fagbenle) and Moira (Samira Wiley) join the resistance. Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) tries to reform Gilead while Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) and Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) reckon with what they have wrought, and Nick (Max Minghella) faces challenging tests of character. This final chapter of June’s journey highlights the importance of hope, courage, solidarity, and resilience in the pursuit of justice and freedom.”
Most PopularNot exactly a subtle message there, Hulu! The Handmaid’s Tale final season teaser is similarly unsubtle, featuring a voiceover from June preaching about how Gilead tried to suppress the handmaids with their blood-red frocks, but “they forgot that it’s also the color of rage,” and “the dress became our uniform,” which unintentionally made them an army. Then she quotes Psalm 23:4 à la Coolio. Co-opting the language of your religious fanatic oppressors and weaponizing it against them—cool stuff, June. Surely her resistance will work out this time, if only because the show is ending and it’s gotta wrap up somehow. We couldn’t live through another administration season of this anyway.
