SNL announces first round of post-anniversary hosts
The show returns to its regularly scheduled programming March 1.

Saturday Night Live‘s big reunion celebration is in the history books, but the show must—and will—go on. There’ll be more anniversaries to prep for, after all!
SNL is set to return March 1 with Shane Gillis’ second round as host. Tate McRae will be the musical guest. The following week, “Dick In A Box” singer Lady Gaga will do double duty for the second time. Her first round was a lifetime ago—there was a KimYe sketch, for reference—so it will be interesting to see what sort of treats this new outing has to offer. Gaga’s seventh studio album MAYHEM releases on March 7, the day before she’s set to host, so there’s a good chance she’ll perform a new song for the very first time. Tate McRae will also be coming off her own album release when she takes the stage. The “Sports Car” singer’s third LP, So Close To What, releases February 21.
Most PopularLast weekend’s special proved that even after 50 years, people still really care about SNL—enough to tune in for three hours of legacy performers and Sabrina Carpenter paying tribute to Lorne Michaels and his ever-enduring program, at least. The reunion delivered a five-year ratings high for NBC with 14.8 million viewers. That made it the network’s fourth most-watched event simulcast on Peacock behind three Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades. Maybe they’ll revive that horrifying giant balloon sketch out of spite for the next anniversary.
